Some vitamin and omega-3 fatty acid deficiencies can lead to emotional disturbances. However, if you are feeling run down, before you try to fix it with a vitamin, look into your daily lifestyle, your stress, your easiness to get depressed or your unhealthy lifestyle habits (such as insufficient sleep or smoking, eating junk, drinking too much, etc.), rather just pop a vitamin.
Even though the poor lifestyle mentioned in the paragraph above can cause a vitamin deficiency, keeping those habits and taking vitamins will not work in your favor.
Feeling under pressure doesn’t automatically lead to a vitamin deficiency. It is important to identify the source that causes the pressure and work on that first, then if needed you can supplement your nutrition with vitamins. So taking a vitamin supplement won’t necessarily make the stressful feelings go away as long as the source of the pressure is still there. More serious mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, aren’t caused or prevented by vitamins, although a healthy diet and good nutrient intake can help support a person to better cope with their condition.
“The types of claims that can be made differ. Drug manufacturers may claim that their product will diagnose, cure, mitigate, treat, or prevent a disease. Such claims may not legally be made for dietary supplements. (Even though in reality, they perform very effectively.)”
