One of the key elements of getting good and proper results while working out is the ability to maintain concentration and focus. For those who need to be entertained while working out or you don’t workout at all, watching TV while working out is better than sitting on the couch and eating potato chips.
Keep in mind of the following risks of working out while being distracted by a TV show, talking on the phone or googling information on your cell phone:
* Sacrificing form, which leads to injury
* Straining muscles, joints, ligaments, and tendons
* Incorrect breathing
* Creating tiny tears in the muscles which eventually lead to injury
* Damaging posture All of the above lead to eventual injury and the benefits of not concentrating diminishes the results in any training situation.
Concentrating by turning your mental focus inward to increase the intensity of your workout can boost your mood in unexpected ways, according to a 2017 study published in the journal Health Psychology.
Focusing instead on proper breathing practices, the rhythm of your breath, the ways and force your feet strike the treadmill, and forming and reforming incremental mental adjustments for yourself during your workout can increase mindfulness, avoid future joint injury and improve your levels of exercise satisfaction.
