The food we eat not only plays a vital role in how we look and feel but is also 80% responsible for fitness and good health. Many people go to the gym and workout long and heavy and aren’t able to get the results they expect. Some of those people turn to steroids and other drugs to help them accomplish staying fit, incurring dangerous health issues in the process.
Regular exercise is important but according to many researches, nutrition has the largest impact on our fitness. It stands to reason that if you eat junk that has absolutely no nutritional value, your muscles will not get the nutrients they need to grow. Many people go to the gym for about 20 years and they always look the same. It is in the kitchen where you will get the best foundation to build the body you want so you can go to the gym and chisel it to your liking.
Using food as our medicine has become a popular theme for health improvement in recent years and those that don’t have a major illness and wish to stay healthy are learning the healing benefits of good food. For those that are ill or have a major disease, good foods will go a long way to complement doctor’s prescribed medicine.
The trend is now to focus on healthy food intake as a primary fitness goal. When healthy eating habits become a lifestyle, we are healthier and more productive. Eating right allows us to reduce body fat, lose a few pounds, feel more confident and reduce our risk of many illnesses.
Frequent studies are indicating healthy food intake as the most important part of our fitness programs. Some physicians are teaching better nutritional habits, the importance of minerals for our health and the significance of having balanced vitamins in our system as well as a good lifestyle as a way to improve overall health by reducing obesity and related disease.
Food Is the key to the nutrients our body needs
Nutrient-dense foods, or “superfoods,” include lean proteins, healthy carbohydrates, and fats essential to our health. Superfoods are a rich source of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
Antioxidants are shown to reduce inflammation in our body helping us fight disease and illness. Inflammation is said to be the leading cause of many diseases. Powerful antioxidants in leafy greens and vegetables, for example, help detoxify the body removing harmful chemicals.
Some superfoods contain compounds that increase our metabolism for more efficient fat burning.
Eating healthy food helps improve health and can also enable us to reach our desired fitness goals.
