Junk food is unhealthful food that is high in calories from excessive sugar, salt or fat, with little dietary fiber, protein, vitamins, minerals, or other important forms of nutritional value. Precise definitions vary by purpose and over time.
Some high-protein drinks, or sports drinks loaded with sugars and preservatives are considered junk food. The term HFSS foods (high in fat, salt and sugar) is used synonymously.
Fast food and fast-food restaurants use high heat cooking methods that destroy the nutrient effectiveness of the food. Fast food restaurants are also often equated with junk food, although fast foods cannot be categorically described as junk food.
Most junk food is highly processed food. Vitamins and minerals are extremely sensitive and easily corrupted by extreme heat, and the chemical processing of ingested foods.
The addicting chemicals in food such as bleaching, rocket fluid, antifreeze, etc. destroy most of the benefits of any vitamin supplement one might take as well as all of the minerals you might take as supplements.
